An intensifying IT skills shortage, initially led
to expanded use of alternate sourcing options like independent
contractors, application service providers, external integrators
and remote programming resources. This further led to increased
dependency throwing open to many management challenges like challenges
in project management framework and risk mitigation activities.
This further evolved to an emerging method called as global delivery
model. The global delivery model seeks to achieve an optimization
of variables like cost, quality, time to market, etc.
This method has evolved further beyond a temporary
answer to tighter budgets. There are definite tangible benefits
seen in this model and currently, the industry is seeing this
as a more appropriate model and are restructuring their entire
operations to make the global delivery model as a standard model.
