    CG-CoreEl is a privately held company where a significant portion of the stake is held by employees.
  
  2. How long has the company been in business?
   

The company has been in business for more than a decade. We started operations in 1992 where we conceptualized, developed and sold IP Cores in the Telecom / Networking markets. The company was re-launched in 1999 as CG-CoreEl Programmable Solutions where the primary business focus is on selling Hardware Design Services and Embedded System Solutions.

Is the company profitable? What is the kind of revenue figures it's been generating?

    CG-CoreEl is a zero-debt company. Our operations have been profitable since inception. For the last 4 years we have seen a sustained revenue growth @ 60%.

Does CGC have global presence? Locations of overseas offices and development centers?

    CG-CoreEl services clients in domestic and overseas markets. It's in the process of firming up its presence in global markets and soon plans to set up Sales Office & Customer Proximity Hubs in the US, Europe & Asia Pac regions.

    CG-CoreEl is in the business of providing customized embedded systems design services and technology solutions to clients in India, US & European markets. Our customer profiles are varied cutting across multiple industry segments like Telecom, Networking, Industrial Automation, Defense and Aerospace etc.

  1. What is the kind of Quality System being followed?
   

CG-CoreEl is an ISO 9001:2000 certified Organisation presently following industry wide best practices, robust process and development methodologies. We are in the process of getting an ISO 27001 certification.

Is there a separate Quality Organization within CGC? If so what is the team size?

   

Quality as a part of our Process & Methodologies guidelines is handled by a dedicated Quality Manager. At present we have a two-member team responsible for the quality organization.

  
  3. Is CGC certified for any Quality Systems?
   

CG-CoreEl is an ISO 9001:2000 certified Organisation. We are in the process of getting an ISO 27001 certification.

Can I get a brief overview of the Quality Process being followed as a part of the Design Services offerings?

   

Quality is the key differentiation for CG-CoreEl and every engineer at CG-CoreEl is always conscious of the quality of deliverables. In order to ensure high quality deliverables, readability and tractability of the designs strict guidelines are provided for coding, commenting and documentation.

Quality management is implemented in the form of reviews and automated checks during various phases of development. Deliverables generated at various stages of the flow act as the points of visibility for the product and process.

Following is the list of approaches to ensure quality:

   
Follow standards for engineering practices. The sources for these standards could be standards forums, special working groups or in-house experience. These are documented (as guidelines and check lists) and the team members are trained on these.
Follow defined standards for other documents as well.
Automate engineering rule checks as part of standards wherever possible.
Perform reviews for standards compliance.
Perform reviews for technical correctness at the earliest possible stages.
  
   

The main metric used for measuring quality is the results from statistical analysis on the defect / changes logged in the collaboration server. After baseline delivery, all changes are logged and undergo a well-defined change life cycle as described in our Change Management Guidelines document.

The changes are classified as (listed in the order of severity):

   
Customer reported defect.
Test defect.
Review change.
Internal change request.
Requirements change.
  
    The number of defects in each of the categories and their time of occurrence is indicative of the quality achieved.

Complex multi-million gate, high speed FPGA design & synthesis for custom applications.
System Level Board design from specifications, prototype development, board bring up and integration in products.
PCB design services (using Mentor & Cadence tools ) which includes - placement, layout, Gerber generation with detailed fabrication guidelines for manufacturability. We ensure that all PCB designs done by us are analyzed thoroughly for timing, signal integrity, power / heat dissipation and EMI / EMC compliance.
Firmware development, porting, board redesigns / respins to replace obsolete components .
System level value engineering for cost reduction and / or performance improvements.

Risks to employee, intellectual capital and assets are identified in offshore projects, considered, recorded appropriately and managed.
That reasonable and cost effective measures are taken to protect the employee, intellectual capital and assets from loss, damage or misuse.
Contingency plans for security emergencies are drawn up, kept under review and periodically tested.
Vital and sensitive information in projects is determined and protected from loss, unauthorized disclosure or modification by control of access to it and through accountability for its possession by the holder.
